Zoe Steele talks about data challenges and Amarillo’s roadmap.


Zoe Steele wants to create technology that will revolutionise the global insurance market. Her previous work experience made her eager to bring benefits, efficiencies, and quality to the DA space. Now they are closer than ever with Amarillo’s first technology product, Fusion, a data connectivity tool.

What made you join Amarillo?

Because I am committed to making a difference to the DA market, by building Fusion we will have the opportunity to address and eradicate the issues I saw in my previous DA role.

Before joining Amarillo, I worked with numerous carriers to cleanse and validate their bordereaux data. We found that in a high percentage of cases, the data provided is inadequate, there were incorrect financial calculations, binding authority contract terms breached and a lot of missing data, so trying to transform and validate that data was incredibly challenging.

I knew there was a better way to do it; that’s why I joined Amarillo’s vision to create Fusion.

Tell us about Fusion and the benefits it will bring.

Fusion is a tool designed to address the challenges in the DA market by improving the transfer, business validation and data quality between parties much earlier in the process.

Our experience in the delegated authority space has led us to understand that no two coverholders are the same and even within a coverholders organisation the data sent from different classes of business is also different.

As such we truly believe a one size fits all approach to system and process is not the answer.

What can people expect from Fusion and the supporting services?

  • Acknowledgement that one tool or approach does not fit all.

  • Help with ensuring CH/MGA/TPA understands what data you require to be submitted and importantly why it is needed.

  • Confidence that the data being sent into Fusion is consistent and if any required data is missing/incorrect an alert will be sent to the CH/MGA/TPA at point of data ingestion.

  • Reduction in the need for complicated calculations, formula’s, data replacements and issues being dealt with months after creation of the original data by pushing the accountability to the CH/MGA/TPA.

  • Integration where possible with your existing system portfolio to avoid duplication of effort.

  • A tool future proofed for incoming market initiatives

  • Full API enablement inbound and outbound

  • Data output that can be produced in an export file for utilisation in customer data warehouses

  • Almost real-time reporting for all interested parties

  • Highly skilled resource freed up to concentrate on revenue generating activity
